MiWay Boosts Service on Busy Routes, Adds Detours Amid Construction

MISSISSAUGA – Transit riders across Mississauga will see service increases on key MiWay routes this spring, alongside temporary detours and bus stop relocations due to ongoing construction projects.

The City of Mississauga announced that six high-demand routes—7 Airport, 26 Burnhamthorpe, 61 Mavis, 103 Hurontario Express, 108 Financial Express, and 109 Meadowvale Express—are receiving more frequent service starting this week. These enhancements aim to meet growing customer demand across both weekday peak hours and weekend travel times.

More Frequent Service Highlights:

  • Routes 103, 108, and 109 Express services will have improved frequency on weekdays during peak travel times, with Route 109 also increasing midday service.

However, riders on several other routes will face temporary detours due to ongoing infrastructure work. Among them, Route 103 Hurontario Express is affected by construction near Trillium Hospital and will detour until further notice. Additional detours include:

  • Route 28 Confederation by Trillium Hospital,

  • Route 36 Ridgeway, which will detour beginning April 28 due to closures on The Collegeway.

Key Stop Relocations:

  • Route 51 Tomken will now serve Platform 12 at Bramalea GO Station, moving away from the Steeles Avenue on-street stop.

  • Route 26 Burnhamthorpe’s stop at Islington Avenue and Bloor Street West has been moved along Bloor Street due to major construction at Islington Subway Station.
