Mississauga’s 2025-2028 Budget Plan Aims to Enhance City Services, Infrastructure, and Quality of Life
MISSISSAUGA – Mississauga residents curious about how their tax dollars are allocated and how the City of Mississauga prioritizes investments may find answers in the newly released 2025-2028 Business Plan & 2025 Budget document. The budget framework is designed to address a range of community needs and aligns with the City’s overarching goals for quality of life, infrastructure sustainability, and efficient service delivery. Through three specific phases—2025 (the upcoming fiscal year), a four-year business plan (2025-2028), and a 10-year capital program (2025-2034)—Mississauga’s planning model adapts to evolving political, economic, social, and environmental challenges.

City’s Strategic Priorities for 2025-2028
Mississauga’s commitment to supporting its over 200 services, which include public transit, fire and emergency response, libraries, parks, and recreation, is outlined in four guiding corporate priorities:
- Deliver the Right Services: Ensuring the quality, accessibility, and relevance of essential services.
- Maintain City Infrastructure: Allocating funds to preserve and enhance roads, buildings, and facilities.
- Advance on the City’s Strategic Vision: Supporting long-term goals that focus on urban growth, sustainability, and innovation.
- Implement Cost Containment Strategies: Balancing budget needs with prudent spending practices to control costs.
Highlights of Proposed 2025 Initiatives
The 2025 budget contains specific plans to improve key services for residents, some of which include:
- Fire and Emergency Services Expansion: The new Fire Station 124 is set to open, and additional roles, including Communications Operators, Vehicle Technicians, and Training Officers, will support emergency response capabilities.
- Enhanced MiWay Transit: Over 120,000 new service hours are planned to improve transit capacity along key routes, accommodating growing ridership.
- Strengthened By-Law Enforcement: Additional officers will address apartment rental compliance, proactive inspections, and other emerging issues in local communities.
How to Engage with the Budget Process
Mississauga residents are encouraged to get involved by reviewing the budget document, which is structured in three volumes. Volume I provides an overview of the City’s business planning and budget priorities, while Volume II delves into the objectives of each City department. Volume III offers deeper insights into the City’s financial reserves and capital programs, giving residents a comprehensive view of Mississauga’s fiscal strategies.
The Budget Committee will hold public meetings, with the next scheduled for Monday, November 18, at 9:30 a.m. Additional sessions may follow on November 19, 25, and 27 if needed. Residents who cannot attend live meetings can access recorded sessions, allowing for ongoing public engagement and feedback.
