Mississauga YMCA Set to Relocate to Square One District in 2027 with $15M City Support

MISSISSAUGA — The Mississauga YMCA is getting a new home. In a major announcement today, the YMCA of Greater Toronto, City of Mississauga, and Oxford Properties confirmed that the YMCA will move into a modern facility at Square One Shopping Centre as part of the rapidly developing Square One District. The relocation is expected to be complete by early 2027.

With $15 million in funding support from the City of Mississauga, the move secures the YMCA’s long-term presence in the city’s growing downtown core, while continuing to offer the health and fitness, child care, and day camp programming that local residents rely on.

“The community has been eagerly awaiting this news and we think finding a location this close to our current Mississauga YMCA in the heart of downtown is the best possible scenario,” said Lesley Davidson, President & CEO, YMCA of Greater Toronto. “We’re designing the new space to encourage social connection and engagement.”

The new facility will be located within Square One District—an 18-million-square-foot mixed-use neighbourhood that is reshaping downtown Mississauga. Once complete, the district will house over 35,000 residents and include thousands of residential units, a new transit mobility hub tied into the upcoming Hurontario LRT, and public amenities.

Mississauga Deputy Mayor and Ward 4 Councillor John Kovac said the YMCA has been a longstanding partner in the community. “I’m so pleased this new space will still be right in the heart of our downtown,” said Kovac. “It will continue to be a place where families can connect, children can grow, and people of all ages can stay active and be supported.”

Oxford Properties, the developer behind Square One District, emphasized the Y’s role in building a community-focused downtown core. “Welcoming the YMCA to Square One District is a proud milestone that symbolizes the area’s ongoing evolution,” said Sherif Masood, Head of Asset Management and Development at Oxford Properties.

Until the new facility opens, YMCA members can continue to use the current location at 325 Burnhamthorpe Road. The charity also operates two employment centres, over 30 licensed child care centres, youth programs, and student nutrition programs in Mississauga.
