Mississauga Welcomes New Mayor and Ward 5 Councillor

Mississauga — Following the certified results of the 2024 By-election, Carolyn Parrish has been elected as the new Mayor of Mississauga, securing 43,494 votes. Alongside her, Natalie Hart emerged victorious as the Ward 5 Councillor, with 3,707 votes cast in her favor.

The City Clerk confirmed a total of 140,243 ballots were cast, reflecting a 25.71% voter turnout. This announcement sets the stage for a pivotal moment in Mississauga’s municipal governance.

A Declaration of Office ceremony is scheduled for Monday, June 24, 2024, at 7 p.m. This event, to be held at Mississauga City Hall’s Council Chamber, will see Mayor-elect Carolyn Parrish and Councillor-elect Natalie Hart formally take their oaths of office for the remainder of the current council term, 2022-2026.

The ceremony agenda includes the official Declaration of Office for Mayor Carolyn Parrish, during which she will receive the Chain of Office, a symbol of her new leadership role. Following this, Natalie Hart will be sworn in as Ward 5 Councillor.
