Mississauga summer recreation programs include swimming, sports and fitness activities

MISSISSAUGA — Residents across Mississauga are being encouraged to prepare early for registration as the City launches another full season of summer recreation and culture programming for 2026.

With more than 5,000 programs available, the City says this year’s lineup includes activities focused on fitness, swimming, sports, arts, wellness and skill development for residents of all ages.

Program previews and bookmarking begin May 12 through Active Mississauga, while registration for Mississauga residents officially opens online and in person on May 19 at 7 a.m. Non-resident registration follows on May 26.

Wide Range of Summer Programs Available

The City’s summer recreation schedule includes programming at community centres, arenas, pools and outdoor spaces throughout Mississauga.

Among the featured programs this season are:

  • Youth Sledge Hockey – Drop-In Shinny
  • Youth Squash Clinic
  • Small-Group Weight Training for Women
  • Virtual Fitness Membership classes

Officials say the programs are designed to help residents stay active, connected and engaged throughout the summer months while supporting physical and mental wellness.

Swimming Lessons Highlighted as Essential Life Skill

The City is also encouraging families to prioritize swimming lessons before summer begins.

Mississauga notes that aquatics programs not only improve water safety and confidence but also support physical fitness, rehabilitation and overall health.

Programs are available for all ages and skill levels, from beginner lessons to advanced aquatic training.

Programs Focus on Accessibility and Inclusion

The City says recreation programming continues to emphasize accessibility and inclusion through:

  • Adapted recreation programs
  • Financial support through the ActiveAssist program
  • HIGH FIVE® accredited children’s programming standards

ActiveAssist helps low-income households and eligible newcomers with refugee status access City recreation and culture programs.

Mississauga officials say instructors across programs are trained to create safe, welcoming and supportive environments for participants.

Residents can begin preparing for registration immediately by updating their Active Mississauga accounts and creating wish lists ahead of launch day.
