Mississauga Steelheads Sign Second-Round Pick Troy Patton
MISSISSAUGA, ON – The Mississauga Steelheads have made a significant move in bolstering their roster for the upcoming season with the signing of Troy Patton, their second-round pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.
Standing at 5’10” and weighing 168 pounds, the Mulmur Township native brings a wealth of talent and potential to the Steelheads lineup. Hailing from the Barrie Jr. Colts program, Patton showcased his abilities during his Minor Midget season in the OMHA, tallying an impressive 55 points, including 24 goals and 31 assists, in just 32 regular-season games.
Patton’s skills were further highlighted on the big stage of the OHL Cup, where he notched 3 points across 5 games, demonstrating his ability to perform under pressure.
Described by Head Coach and General Manager James Richmond as an “ultimate competitor with a big skill set,” Patton is lauded for his complete 200-foot game and relentless work ethic. Richmond expressed excitement about Patton’s signing, noting his belief that the young centreman will seamlessly integrate into the Steelheads’ lineup.
“We are very pleased to announce that Troy Patton has signed an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Steelheads,” stated Richmond. “We look forward to watching Troy develop with the Steelheads beginning this Fall.
