Mississauga Opens Spray Pads for Summer Season as Outdoor Pools Prepare to Reopen
Mississauga spray pads and Celebration Square’s wading pool are now open ahead of outdoor pool season in June
MISSISSAUGA — Mississauga residents looking to cool off this summer can now visit spray pads across the city as the 2026 outdoor water season officially begins.
The City of Mississauga announced that all municipal spray pads opened Friday, May 15, offering free outdoor water play opportunities for families and children throughout the summer months.
City officials say more than 30 spray pads are now operating daily across Mississauga, weather permitting.
Spray Pads Open Daily Across the City
The spray pads open each day at 9 a.m. and will remain operational through September, depending on weather conditions.
Mississauga says the facilities are:
- Free to use
- Family-friendly
- Unsupervised
Parents and guardians are encouraged to actively supervise children while using spray pads and water play areas.
Residents can locate nearby spray pads through the City’s online park and recreation maps.
Celebration Square Wading Pool Also Open
The City confirmed that the Celebration Square wading pool is now open for the season as well.
The downtown Mississauga attraction operates:
- 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. until Labour Day
- 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. after Labour Day
While designed for younger children, the City notes that the wading pool is unsupervised and adult supervision remains required.
Outdoor Pools Reopening June 13
Mississauga’s outdoor pools are scheduled to reopen on Saturday, June 13, weather permitting.
The City says:
- Pre-season schedules will run from June 13 to June 28 with select hours
- Regular summer schedules begin June 29 and continue through September 7
Indoor pools remain open under the City’s current spring schedule, with summer schedules beginning June 29.
Transit and Summer Recreation Programs
The City is also promoting public transit access to summer recreation destinations through MiWay.
Under current fare programs:
- Children ages six to 12 ride free with PRESTO
- Seniors 65 and older ride free
- Youth ages 13 to 19 pay $2.90 per ride
Mississauga also noted that youth ages 12 to 16 enrolled in the Sauga Summer Pass program will receive free MiWay rides and free public swims from June 26 through September 7.
Residents Encouraged to Stay Safe in Summer Heat
City officials are reminding residents to:
- Stay hydrated
- Wear sunscreen
- Dress appropriately for warm weather
Updates regarding spray pad or pool service disruptions will be shared through 311 and the City’s parks and recreation social media channels.
The opening of spray pads marks one of the City’s first major seasonal recreation rollouts ahead of a busy summer schedule of outdoor programming and family activities across Mississauga.
