Mississauga Reshapes Senior Leadership as City Prepares for Growth

MISSISSAUGA – The City of Mississauga has announced a significant reshuffle of its senior leadership team, with three key appointments set to take effect on May 1, 2025. The changes, recommended by City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer Geoff Wright, were finalized through decisions made by Mayor Carolyn Parrish.

Marisa Chiu Elevated to Commissioner of Corporate Services

Marisa Chiu, who has served as the City’s Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer since March 2023, will expand her responsibilities as the new Commissioner of Corporate Services, while continuing in her current roles. Chiu’s promotion follows her leadership in crafting two municipal budgets and her prior financial stewardship at the Toronto District School Board. She will now also oversee the City’s Corporate Business Services and Information Technology divisions.

Graham Walsh Takes On Expanded Legal and Legislative Role

Graham Walsh will become the City Solicitor and Commissioner of Legislative Services. Returning to Mississauga in 2024 after a stint with the Region of Waterloo, Walsh brings over a decade of legal experience within municipal government. His new portfolio combines Legal Services with oversight of the Legislative Services and Human Resources divisions.

Raj Sheth Transitions to Community Services Leadership

Raj Sheth, a 30-year City veteran and current Commissioner of Corporate Services, will assume the position of Commissioner of Community Services. Sheth has overseen major infrastructure projects, including community centres and libraries. His new role will see him lead a broad portfolio that includes Recreation and Culture, Parks, Libraries, and Municipal Enforcement.

Mayor Parrish emphasized the importance of aligning the City’s leadership with its evolving priorities:

“These changes bring together a team of talented professionals with the expertise and experience needed to deliver on our city’s priorities. Marisa, Graham, and Raj bring a deep understanding of our city’s needs and a strong commitment to serving our community.”

City Manager Geoff Wright added that the new structure will help Mississauga navigate emerging municipal challenges:

“We have a strong team ready to serve Mississauga residents and businesses.”

The leadership changes reflect Mississauga’s ongoing efforts to modernize city operations and prepare for sustained population growth, economic development, and service delivery demands.
