Mississauga Ends Naming Rights Agreement for Paramount Fine Foods Centre

City says Paramount Fine Foods owes $1.6 million as facility prepares to transition to new temporary name

MISSISSAUGA — The City of Mississauga is ending its naming rights and concession agreement with Paramount Fine Foods for the city’s major sports and entertainment venue after nearly eight years.

Beginning June 1, 2026, the facility at 5500 Rose Cherry Place will officially transition from the “Paramount Fine Foods Centre” to the temporary name Mississauga Sports and Entertainment Centre while the City searches for a new naming rights partner.

The City announced Tuesday that it unilaterally terminated the agreement after Paramount Fine Foods allegedly failed to meet financial obligations outlined in its contract.

City pursuing legal action over unpaid funds

According to the City, Paramount Fine Foods currently owes approximately $1.6 million.

Municipal officials said legal action is expected in the coming weeks as the City attempts to recover taxpayer funds tied to the agreement.

“The City tried its best to work with Paramount but was unable to reach a resolution and receive payment,” the City stated in its announcement.

Officials added that all vendors, contractors and corporate partners are expected to fulfill contractual obligations with the municipality.

No impact expected on events or bookings

Despite the naming rights change, City officials say all scheduled:

  • Programs
  • Sports activities
  • Concerts
  • Rentals
  • Bookings
  • Community events

will continue without interruption.

The City confirmed tickets and bookings referencing the former Paramount Fine Foods Centre name will still be honoured during the transition period.

Visitors may temporarily see both facility names used across:

  • Communications
  • Event listings
  • Online maps
  • Customer materials

Updated signage and customer service support will also be introduced throughout the transition.

City to assume food service operations

Mississauga will also take over food concession and service operations at the venue beginning June 1.

Officials say the transition is intended to maintain a consistent customer experience while new long-term operational plans are developed.

A new website, mississaugasec.com, is currently being developed for the renamed facility.

Facility remains home to Raptors 905 and community sports

The Mississauga Sports and Entertainment Centre remains one of the city’s largest multi-use recreation and event complexes.

The facility includes:

  • A main spectator arena
  • Three community ice rinks
  • Indoor turf facilities
  • Triple gymnasiums
  • Fitness and gymnastics spaces
  • Outdoor artificial turf sports fields

The venue also serves as the home court for Raptors 905, the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors.

Municipal officials say the City’s focus remains on maintaining uninterrupted operations for sports organizations, tenants and event organizers.

“Residents, tenants, and event organizers should expect business as usual at the facility,” said Raj Sheth, Commissioner of Community Services.

“Our focus is on maintaining a smooth transition as the City moves to the temporary name and assumes food service operations.”

City beginning search for new naming partner

Mississauga says the temporary facility name will remain in place while the City conducts market analysis and seeks a new corporate naming rights partner.

The naming transition applies to the full sports and recreation complex, including:

  • Mississauga Sports and Entertainment Centre
  • Community Rinks
  • SportsPlex
  • Sports Fields and Dome facilities

The City says additional updates will be shared through municipal communication channels as the transition moves forward.
