City of Mississauga Appoints Maureen Cosyn Heath as New Director of Transit
MISSISSAUGA – The City of Mississauga has announced the appointment of Maureen Cosyn Heath as its new Director of Transit, set to take the helm on June 2, 2025. With more than two decades of transit leadership experience, Cosyn Heath will now oversee MiWay, Ontario’s third-largest municipal transit system, which logged over 58 million boardings in 2024.
In her new role, Cosyn Heath will manage a workforce of 1,600+ operators and staff, oversee a 500-bus fleet, and support daily service across 71 routes, delivering 1.24 million service hours each weekday.
🚍 Transit Leadership with Proven Results
Cosyn Heath began her career at the London Transit Commission in 1999 and later became the founding CAO of Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services, which serves over 50,000 students. Most recently, she served as Director of Transit for the City of Hamilton, where she led a comprehensive bus network redesign and contributed to the planning and coordination of the Hamilton LRT.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Windsor and a Master’s in Public Administration from Western University. Since 2022, she has been a Board member of the Canadian Urban Transit Association, currently chairing its Communications and Public Affairs Committee.
“She knows how to run a transit service and is the right person to lead MiWay forward,” said Sam Rogers, Mississauga’s Commissioner of Transportation and Works. “She joins our team at a critical time for MiWay.”
“Mississauga has a strong history of investing in public transit,” said Cosyn Heath. “With many rapid transit projects under construction, transit in Mississauga will continue to advance.”
MiWay’s appointment of Cosyn Heath comes at a time of significant system expansion, including ongoing integration with the under-construction Hurontario LRT.
