Mississauga Launches Pride Month 2026 Celebrations with Events Across the City
City to host flag raisings, library programs, movie screenings and community Pride activities throughout June
MISSISSAUGA — The City of Mississauga is preparing to celebrate Pride Month 2026 with a month-long lineup of community events, cultural programming and public displays recognizing and supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
City officials say this year’s Pride Month activities are intended to celebrate diversity, inclusion and the ongoing progress toward equal treatment and human rights while creating welcoming spaces for residents across Mississauga.
Throughout June, Pride flags will fly at City-owned facilities with multiple flagpoles, while Mississauga’s City Hall clock tower will also be illuminated in Pride colours on evenings where other commemorative causes are not scheduled.
Pride flag raising scheduled for June 1
The City’s official Pride Month programming begins with a Progress Pride flag raising ceremony hosted in partnership with Rainbow Sauga Alliance.
The ceremony is scheduled for:
- Date: Monday, June 1
- Time: 12 p.m.
- Location: Mississauga City Hall
Officials say the public is invited to attend the event as the City officially marks the beginning of Pride Month celebrations.
Library programs and film screenings planned
Mississauga Library will also host a series of free programs throughout June celebrating:
- 2SLGBTQIA+ stories
- Creativity
- Community connections
- Education and inclusion
In addition, movie screenings will take place at the Hazel McCallion Central Library during the month.
The City says these programs are designed to encourage learning, community engagement and cultural celebration.
Additional community events planned
Among the additional activities planned this year is a Pride swim event scheduled for June 27.
Mississauga will also participate in regional Pride celebrations, including:
- Pride Toronto Parade on Sunday, June 28 at 2 p.m.
- Peel Pride 2026, organized by the Peel 2SLGBTQ+ Collaborative, on Saturday, July 11 at Community Common Park in Mississauga
The City says Peel Pride 2026 will be free to attend and will not require registration.
City continues focus on inclusion and diversity
Mississauga officials say Pride Month represents an opportunity to recognize the contributions, experiences and voices of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community while continuing conversations around equity, diversity and inclusion.
The City’s Pride Month programming aligns with broader municipal efforts focused on creating inclusive public spaces and fostering community participation through arts, culture and civic events.
Additional details about Pride Month events and activities are available through the City of Mississauga’s official website.
