Mississauga Introduces Watercraft Launch Ramp Fees Starting May 1
Mississauga launch ramp fees introduced to manage demand and fund operations
Mississauga City Council has approved new user fees for the City’s watercraft launch ramps, with charges set to take effect on May 1, 2026, as part of an effort to manage demand and support operations along the waterfront.
The new fees will apply to launches at Marina Park and Lakefront Promenade, where thousands of residents and visitors access the water each year.
New Fee Structure for 2026 Season
Under the updated Fees and Charges By-law, anyone using a trailer to launch a watercraft will be required to pay:
Residents:
- $10 for a one-day pass
- $40 for a seven-day pass
- $120 for a seasonal pass
Non-residents:
- $15 for a one-day pass
- $60 for a seven-day pass
- $180 for a seasonal pass
Seasonal permits will allow unlimited access throughout the boating season, from spring opening to fall closure, depending on weather conditions.
Managing Growing Demand on the Waterfront
City officials say the introduction of fees is a response to increased usage and operational pressures. The launch ramps are used approximately 8,000 times annually, with peak demand occurring during summer weekends.
To manage this growth, the City has expanded staffing and security presence at launch sites. The new fees are intended to help offset these costs while maintaining safe and efficient operations.
Nadia Paladino, Director of Parks, Forestry and Environment, said the changes are designed to improve the overall experience.
“The new fees will help us keep Mississauga’s launch ramps running smoothly during our busiest seasons. With growing use of our waterfront, this change allows us to better manage operations while continuing to provide a positive and organized experience,” Paladino said.
Payment Options and On-Site Support
Users will be able to pay launch fees online in advance or in person at marina offices. City staff will also be available on-site to assist with mobile payments, provide information and verify compliance.
Officials are asking users to remain respectful of staff as the new system is implemented.
Looking Ahead
The City says the introduction of launch ramp fees reflects broader efforts to manage waterfront activity as Mississauga continues to grow. By implementing a structured fee system, officials aim to balance accessibility with sustainability and operational efficiency.
