Mississauga Invites Public Feedback on Key City Initiatives

MISSISSAUGA – Mississauga residents are being encouraged to share their input on several city projects that aim to shape the future of the community. From public safety regulations to transit improvements, the City has launched multiple engagement opportunities to ensure residents’ voices are heard.

Regulating Protests Near Places of Worship

The City of Mississauga is considering a new by-law to regulate protests near places of worship, aiming to balance the right to peaceful assembly with the right to worship safely. Public consultations will begin in March, with residents invited to participate in an online survey from March 17 to April 8. Community discussions will also take place with faith-based leaders and other stakeholders. More details can be found at mississauga.ca/protestbylaw.

Fireworks By-law Review

The City is reviewing its fireworks regulations and seeking public opinions. Currently, fireworks can be used on private property without a permit on select holidays, including Lunar New Year, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Diwali, and New Year’s Day. An online survey is available until March 31, allowing residents to share their experiences and suggestions for potential changes. Feedback collected will inform future by-law updates. Renoviction By-law Development

Mississauga is working on a proposed by-law to address unlawful renovictions, where landlords evict tenants for renovations without following legal procedures under the Residential Tenancies Act. To ensure fair housing practices, the City is seeking feedback from tenants, landlords, and community members. Residents can participate by attending a virtual meeting on April 9, completing an online survey by April 16, or visiting local libraries for in-person assistance. MiWay Five Plus: Shaping the Future of Transit

Mississauga is also gathering input for MiWay Five Plus, the city’s new transit service master plan for 2026-2035. The plan focuses on improving transit connectivity, efficiency, and sustainability. Residents can contribute by taking a survey from March 17 to 28, providing valuable insights into their transit needs. Updates and survey details will be available on the MiWay webpage.

Imagine Mississauga: Your Voice, Our Future

The City is inviting residents, businesses, and stakeholders to contribute ideas for Mississauga’s next Strategic Plan. This long-term roadmap will guide growth, address challenges, and shape the city’s future. The public can share their vision by completing a survey before June 15, 2025.
