Mississauga Gears Up for Its Biggest New Year’s Eve Party Yet at Celebration Square
Mississauga – As the countdown to 2025 begins, Mississauga is preparing to host its biggest New Year’s Eve celebration at Celebration Square on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Featuring an all-Canadian hip-hop lineup, family-friendly activities, and a spectacular fireworks finale, the free event promises an unforgettable night for attendees of all ages.
Family Fun and Early Countdown
The evening kicks off at 8 p.m. with NYE Jr., a special segment designed for children and families. Canadian hip-hop legend Maestro Fresh Wes will take the stage, performing songs from his kid-friendly album Young Maestro. For those with early bedtimes, a confetti countdown at 9 p.m. ensures that everyone gets a chance to celebrate.
Music Lineup: A Hip-Hop Extravaganza
Following the family-friendly festivities, Celebration Square transforms into a hub of hip-hop excellence. Toronto rapper DijahSB, known for their uplifting and inspirational lyrics, performs at 9:20 p.m., followed by Juno Award-winning artist Shad at 10 p.m. Mississauga’s own rising star, AR Paisley, takes the stage at 11 p.m.
The evening culminates with a finale performance, The GTA Mix-Tape, celebrating the history of hip-hop in the Greater Toronto Area. All four performers will join forces for a collaborative set before the crowd rings in the new year with a fireworks display and remarks from Mayor Carolyn Parrish.
Skating, Food, and Accessibility
Attendees can enjoy skating on Mississauga’s largest outdoor rink, indulge in delicious food offerings, and take advantage of accessible amenities. Two accessible mobility device charging stations will be available, and an accessible viewing area for stage performances is located near the Amphitheatre.
Parking, Transit, and Road Closures
Road closures in the downtown core will be in effect from 7 p.m. on December 31, 2024, until 1 a.m. on January 1, 2025. Underground parking at the Civic Centre and Hazel McCallion Central Library will close at 5 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to carpool, walk, or use MiWay, which is offering free transit service from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Limited parking, including accessible spaces, is available at the Living Arts Centre underground lot.
