Mississauga Embraces Winter with Activities for Everyone

MISSISSAUGAMississauga residents have plenty of reasons to embrace the cold this winter. The City has unveiled a range of activities designed to help locals make the most of the snowy season, combining outdoor fun with physical activity. From skating rinks to tobogganing hills, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Outdoor Skating Rinks: Fun on Ice
Mississauga’s outdoor skating rinks are a highlight of the winter months. The iconic Mississauga Celebration Square Ice Skating Rink, located at 300 City Centre Drive, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting. The rink offers skate rentals and sharpening services during select hours. For pricing and rental schedules, visitors can check the City Skate website or call the rink hotline. Skaters can also warm up with a treat from Dimkin Crepes or Wow Zone, or relax on the heated patios nearby.

For those exploring Port Credit, the Port Credit Memorial Park Skate Trail offers a scenic 200-metre loop, perfect for combining a skating session with holiday shopping. Neighborhood skating fans will also enjoy the Woodhurst Heights Outdoor Rink, which is the only rink in Mississauga offering drop-in hockey stick and puck programming.

Natural Rinks and Trails
Mississauga boasts 27 natural skating rinks, lovingly maintained by community volunteers. While these rinks are weather-dependent, they provide a charming, back-to-nature skating experience. However, safety remains a priority, as skating on frozen lakes, stormwater ponds, and other natural water bodies is strictly prohibited.

For those who prefer winter walks, the Lakeview Golf Course will soon open marked walking and snowshoeing trails. Beginning January 6, visitors can explore two trails and make use of a portable washroom near the clubhouse.

Tobogganing Hills for Thrill Seekers
Nothing beats the exhilaration of tobogganing down a snowy hill. Mississauga has six designated hills, including those at Birchwood Park and Jack Darling Memorial Park. The City reminds residents to prioritize safety, advising sledders to sit face-forward and keep their arms and legs tucked in.

Safety First in Winter Fun
The City encourages everyone to dress warmly, stay hydrated, and always prioritize safety while enjoying outdoor activities. For real-time updates on rink openings and closures due to weather, residents can call 905-615-3200 ext. R-I-N-K (7465).

Mississauga’s winter activities provide the perfect opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and boost your mood. Whether it’s skating under the stars, sledding with family, or snowshoeing along serene trails, winter in Mississauga promises to be anything but dull.
