Mississauga Celebrates National Public Works Week with Community Appreciation Event

Mississauga – In honor of National Public Works Week, the City of Mississauga is gearing up to host a special event to recognize the invaluable contributions of public works professionals in keeping the city running smoothly.

Scheduled to take place Outside of the Living Arts Centre and on Princess Royal Drive Saturday, May 25, the event promises to be an engaging and informative affair for residents of all ages.

This special event aims to honor and recognize the dedicated public works professionals who tirelessly work to build and maintain the infrastructure, facilities, and services that we rely on every day. From roads and sidewalks to parks and transit, these essential workers play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life in our communities.

The Family Fun Day offers a fantastic opportunity to meet City staff, learn about their work, and get up close to the equipment and trucks they use. Highlights of the event include:

  • ‘Touch a Truck’ and Equipment Displays: Explore various vehicles and equipment used in public works, including snow plows, MiWay buses, and front-end loaders.
  • Interactive Exhibits: Engage in fun and educational activities that showcase the importance of public works and sustainability practices.
  • Bouncy Castle: Kids can enjoy bouncing around in the inflatable castle for added excitement.

This event is free to attend, and no registration is required. Simply come out and enjoy the festivities with your friends and family.

For those planning to attend, consider leaving your car at home and opting for alternative transportation methods such as walking, cycling, or taking MiWay. Plan your trip using the City’s Trip Planner for a hassle-free experience.
