Mississauga Animal Services Hosts Adopt-a-thon to Find Homes for Long-Term Residents
Mississauga – Mississauga Animal Services is calling on the community to help find loving homes for some of the shelter’s long-term animal residents. To encourage adoptions, the shelter is offering a special 50% discount on adoption fees during its upcoming Adopt-a-thon event, running from October 7 to 12.
This event is aimed at reducing the number of animals awaiting permanent homes, with a special focus on pets that have been at the shelter for over a year. The Adopt-a-thon is a family-friendly opportunity to meet a variety of pets in need of a forever home, and no appointment is necessary.
Event Details:
- Date: October 7 to 12, 2024
- Time: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Location: Mississauga Animal Services, 735 Central Parkway West, Mississauga, ON L5C 4H4
Comprehensive Adoption Services All animals adopted from Mississauga Animal Services undergo a thorough health and wellness check, which includes spaying or neutering, initial vaccinations (rabies excluded), microchipping, and deworming. Each adoption also comes with the purchase of a first-year pet license, with fees directly supporting the shelter.
Those interested in adopting must be at least 18 years old, and the shelter encourages potential adopters to have all family members available for phone consultations during the process. While no appointments are necessary, there may be brief waits to meet with available animals.
Mississauga Animal Services also reminds potential pet owners to review the city’s Animal Care and Control By-law, which outlines standards of care to ensure the well-being of animals.
Making a Difference Mississauga Animal Services’ Adopt-a-thon offers a unique chance to make a lasting impact on an animal’s life. The shelter invites individuals and families to open their homes to these deserving pets. For more information on the animals up for adoption and the process, visit mississauga.ca/adoptapet or contact the shelter directly.
This Adopt-a-thon is not just an opportunity to bring a new pet into your life, but also a way to support the community and give animals in need a second chance at happiness.
