Mississauga celebrates 2025 Urban Design Award winners, spotlighting innovation and community impact

Annual awards honour excellence in sustainable design and city-building vision

MISSISSAUGA — The City of Mississauga has announced the winners of its 2025 Urban Design Awards, honouring projects that combine innovation, sustainability, and community impact in shaping the city’s evolving landscape.

The awards ceremony, held on October 23, celebrated a wide range of projects — from residential developments to public parks and community spaces — that exemplify creative urban design and a commitment to livability.

Recognizing design excellence and future vision

This year’s theme, “Reflections and Visions,” encouraged participants to celebrate Mississauga’s design legacy while envisioning the city’s future growth. The winning projects highlighted how thoughtful design can enhance residents’ quality of life, promote environmental responsibility, and contribute to a more connected and vibrant community.

Now in its 44th year, the Mississauga Urban Design Awards are Ontario’s longest-running municipal design awards, first established in 1981. The initiative recognizes the work of architects, planners, artists, and landscape architects whose creativity and innovation continue to shape the city’s identity.

Honouring the people who shape Mississauga

Each award category highlights a different aspect of urban design, including excellence in architecture, public realm design, landscape innovation, and environmental sustainability. Many of this year’s recognized projects were praised for integrating green design principles and creating spaces that foster community interaction and well-being.
