MINISO Opens First Outdoor Street Store in Ontario at CF Don Mills
Blending retail with play, the new 4,000 sq ft space introduces ice cream, claw machines, and a new vinyl plush launch
TORONTO — Global lifestyle brand MINISO has officially expanded its footprint in Ontario with the grand opening of its first plaza and outdoor street store in the province. Located at CF Shops at Don Mills (28 Karl Fraser Rd, North York), the 4,000 square foot location opened May 16 and represents a new evolution in the brand’s Canadian retail strategy.
The Don Mills location blends MINISO’s signature product selection — including plush toys, blind boxes, and over 20 trending skincare and makeup lines — with a “shop-and-play” concept that includes a dedicated claw machine area and the brand’s first-ever ice cream section in Canada. The immersive layout reflects MINISO’s “Joy Philosophy,” turning the store into a hybrid of retail and recreational space designed for social interaction.
The store’s grand opening was marked with fanfare: lion dances, DJ performances, and interactive blind box hunts attracted families, collectors, and curious shoppers. A standout hit was the debut of the new vinyl plush blind box collection featuring Disney characters like Stitch and Winnie-the-Pooh, with more than 100 units sold on opening day. A new Stitch series is expected to launch in all Canadian locations by the end of May.
Located within one of Toronto’s top open-air lifestyle destinations, the CF Shops at Don Mills site aligns with MINISO’s youthful brand identity and its push toward lifestyle-oriented retail environments.
Looking ahead, MINISO plans to continue its expansion with additional stores in Toronto and Edmonton. As of March 2025, the company operates more than 7,400 stores in over 100 countries, including 370+ across North America.
