McHappy Day Returns May 8: Eat for a Cause and Support Families in Need

Toronto — This Thursday, May 8, your McDonald’s order can do more than satisfy a craving — it can help families with sick or injured children across Canada stay close to their loved ones during times of medical crisis. McHappy Day® returns for its 26th year, with a portion of all food and beverage sales donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) Canada and other local children’s charities.

From Happy Meals to McCafé coffee, every purchase helps fund accommodations, meals, mental wellness programming, and more for families staying near hospitals where their children receive care.

“McHappy Day is more than fundraising. It’s a celebration of community and an opportunity to support our neighbours,” said Marcia Finlayson, McDonald’s Canada Franchisee.

Customers can participate in multiple ways:

  • Order in-person or via app, and know your purchase supports RMHC

  • Enjoy $0 delivery fees via McDelivery through DoorDash, UberEats, SKIP, or the McDonald’s app*

  • Round Up for RMHC at checkout

  • Buy McHappy Day socks or hearts in-store or online for $2, $5, or $10

“Every bite you take brings support and hope to families with sick or injured children,” added Francesca Cardarelli, Chief Marketing Officer, McDonald’s Canada.

Since its inception, McHappy Day has raised over $100 million, helping nearly 500,000 families stay close during difficult times. Yet the need remains urgent — up to 4 out of 5 families who seek help from RMHC are turned away due to limited space.

Whether you grab a Big Mac or just round up your change, your support can make a real difference.
