McDonald’s Canada Launches Limited-Time Minecraft Movie Meals Ahead of April Film Release
TORONTO — McDonald’s Canada is taking fans on a pixelated adventure this spring with the launch of A Minecraft Movie Meal and Happy Meal®, just in time for the theatrical release of A Minecraft Movie on April 4. Available starting April 1 at participating restaurants nationwide (excluding Quebec), the limited-time offerings bring the world of Minecraft into the McDonald’s universe — with exclusive collectibles, themed packaging, and digital in-game content.
For adult fans, the Minecraft Movie Meal includes a choice of a Big Mac®, 10-piece Chicken McNuggets®, or a McSpicy™ sandwich — all made with Canadian-sourced beef or chicken — along with medium fries, a medium drink, and one of six exclusive collectibles inspired by McDonald’s icons and Minecraft gameplay. Each item comes in specially designed pixelated packaging and includes a scannable code that unlocks skins in the Minecraft Marketplace.
Collectibles include:
- Big Mac Crystal
- Birdie Wings (Elytra-inspired)
- Fry Helmet
- Grimace Egg
- Soda Potion
- Zombie Hamburglar
The launch also introduces the Nether Flame Sauce, a fiery new dip made with cayenne, chili pepper, garlic, and sweet notes, designed to pair with Chicken McNuggets®. Rounding out the themed meal is the new Apple Shake, made with apple syrup and McDonald’s vanilla soft serve.
“We’re thrilled to launch A Minecraft Movie Meal in Canada and offer our fans a fun and unique experience,” said Francesca Cardarelli, Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald’s Canada, in a statement. “This campaign is all about blending the world of Minecraft with our iconic McDonald’s menu and McDonaldland characters.”
Younger fans can dive into the block-building world through the Minecraft Movie Happy Meal, which includes one of 12 film-inspired toys — including collectible characters like Creeper, Steve, Bee, and Pink Sheep — or a Minecraft Adventures activity book. Each item comes with a code to unlock a web-based game at www.happymeal.com, extending the movie experience beyond the restaurant.
The global collaboration spans 100 countries and marks McDonald’s latest entertainment-themed meal rollout, following previous partnerships with major movie releases and video game franchises.
A Minecraft Movie, directed by Jared Hess and produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, Legendary Pictures, Mojang Studios and others, hits theatres across Canada and the U.S. on April 4.
