McCain Foods Brings Bollywood to Canada with New Masala Fries and Chili Garlic Potato Bites

New “Flavours of the World” lineup celebrates South Asian cuisine and culture with cinematic flair

TORONTO — McCain Foods Canada is turning up the heat this fall with the launch of two bold new South Asian-inspired products — McCain Masala Fries and McCain Chili Garlic Potato Bites — as part of its new Flavours of the World portfolio. To celebrate, the company is inviting Canadians to experience the magic of Bollywood through its first-ever McCain Masala Movie, now streaming at mccainmasalamovie.ca.

Filmed in Mumbai and directed by Nitin Menon, the McCain Masala Movie pays homage to Bollywood’s signature “masala” film genre — a vibrant mix of action, comedy, romance, and drama. The story begins with a flavourful twist of fate between two market vendors — one selling McCain fries and the other, masala spice — leading to a joyful adventure filled with colour, dance, and delicious connections.

The production was a global collaboration between McCain Canada, McCain India, and top South Asian talent, including costume designer Maxima Basu and choreographer Longinus Fernandes, famed for his work in Slumdog Millionaire.

“As a global leader in prepared potato products, McCain knows that fries have a unique way of bringing people together,” said Matt Kohler, Managing Director, Canada Retail, McCain Foods. “We’re extending this connection across cultures to bring more globally inspired flavours to all Canadians.”

A Taste of India, Made for Canada

The new McCain Masala Fries feature straight-cut fries coated in a blend of chili, onion, garlic, and fenugreek, offering a punchy spice mix that pairs perfectly with ketchup or chutney. For bite-sized flavour, the Chili Garlic Potato Bites deliver a crispy golden crust seasoned with chili and garlic — ideal for sharing or snacking.

Both products are easy to prepare in an air fryer or oven, designed to bring authentic South Asian flavour to any Canadian kitchen.

“Whether you’re in Canada or India, McCain Masala Fries and Chili Garlic Potato Bites will deliver the same bold flavours,” said Aditya Krishna, Director of Sales and Marketing at McCain India. “Our teams worked together across continents to recreate the recipes Canadians can now enjoy at home.”

Global Expertise, Local Connection

McCain’s new Flavours of the World product line marks the beginning of a broader initiative to introduce Canadians to international cuisines through the brand’s global network of chefs, researchers, and food experts.

With operations in more than 160 countries and seven Canadian production facilities employing approximately 2,400 people, McCain continues to deliver innovation rooted in cultural appreciation and culinary creativity.

The company plans to expand its Flavours of the World lineup in the coming months, with future product launches inspired by cuisines from around the globe.

McCain Masala Fries and Chili Garlic Potato Bites are available now at major retailers across Canada.
