McCafé At-Home Coffee Campaign to Support Families in Need This December

Toronto — Canadians have an opportunity to brew warmth and goodwill this holiday season as McDonald’s Canada partners with Ronald McDonald House Charities® Canada (RMHC®) for a heartfelt initiative. Throughout December, $1 from every McCafé® At-Home coffee product sold at participating retailers or online at Keurig.ca/McCafé will be donated to RMHC Canada, up to $100,000.

The funds will help RMHC Canada provide accommodations, meals, mental health support, and community care for families staying at Ronald McDonald Houses® while their children receive medical treatment. The campaign covers McCafé’s full range of products, including new offerings like McCafé Premium Instant Coffee and McCafé Caramel Flavoured Coffee.

Kate Horton, President and CEO of RMHC Canada, emphasized the comfort coffee brings to families during challenging times. “A warm cup of coffee is like a comforting hug, especially for families with sick children. It fuels their hospital trips, calms nerves, and offers a sense of normalcy,” she said. Horton highlighted that RMHC families consume more than 840,000 cups of coffee annually across Canada, underscoring the value of this initiative.

Limited-Edition Quilted Hoodies Inspired by Comfort and Care

As part of the campaign, McCafé has collaborated with Canadian artist Briony Douglas to design Coffee that Cares: McCafé Quilted Hoodies. The design draws inspiration from the quilting programs at Ronald McDonald Houses and the comfort coffee provides. A limited number of these hoodies will be available through giveaways on Douglas’s Instagram (@briony) and Keurig Dr Pepper Canada’s LinkedIn page.

Douglas shared her pride in supporting RMHC Canada, stating, “Each element of the design represents the comfort and warmth that a cup of coffee, a quilt, and a helping hand can provide.”

A Growing Need for RMHC Canada’s Services

Now in its fourth year, the campaign has raised over $525,000 to date. This year’s contribution equates to approximately 423 overnight stays for families in need. However, the demand for RMHC’s services continues to outpace available resources. Currently, up to 4 out of 5 families requiring support cannot be accommodated due to space limitations.

Sophie Bélanger, Marketing Director Coffee at Keurig Dr Pepper Canada, reinforced the importance of the initiative. “We believe every cup of McCafé At-Home coffee brings comfort to these families and contributes to the invaluable support provided by RMHC,” she said.

How to Support the Cause

Canadians can contribute by purchasing McCafé At-Home coffee products from December 1 to 31, 2024, at participating retailers or online. For more information about McCafé products, visit Keurig.ca/McCafé. Donations to RMHC can also be made directly at rmhc.ca/donate.

By enjoying a comforting cup of coffee this holiday season, Canadians can help provide essential support to families navigating difficult times, ensuring they stay close to the care their children need.
