Mazda Dominates IIHS 2025 Top Safety Pick+ Awards with Industry-Leading Eight Wins
RICHMOND HILL, ON – Mazda has set a new benchmark in vehicle safety, earning an industry-leading eight 2025 TOP SAFETY PICK+ awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the highest recognition in crashworthiness and crash prevention. The achievement reinforces Mazda’s commitment to advancing vehicle safety and moving closer to its goal of eliminating traffic fatalities.
The award-winning models include the 2025 Mazda3, Mazda3 Sport, CX-30, CX-50 (including CX-50 Hybrid), CX-70, CX-70 PHEV, CX-90, and CX-90 PHEV. These vehicles met IIHS’s toughest safety standards, excelling in front and side crash tests, pedestrian crash prevention assessments, and featuring standard headlights rated as acceptable or good.
IIHS President David Harkey commended Mazda’s dedication to safety, noting the automaker’s impressive ability to meet increasingly stringent requirements. “Kudos to Mazda for meeting this challenge with eight TOP SAFETY PICK+ winners, the most of any brand,” Harkey said.
Mazda’s success can be attributed to key safety advancements, including rear seat belt pretensioners and load limiters, enhanced airbag systems, and robust vehicle structures. Additionally, Mazda’s crash avoidance technologies prioritize pedestrian safety in various lighting conditions, further demonstrating its holistic approach to reducing accidents.
Mazda Canada President and CEO David Klan emphasized that safety remains an ongoing priority. “These awards are not our end goal, but as IIHS keeps raising the bar for safety, we too continually challenge ourselves to stay ahead of the curve, and the results here speak for themselves,” Klan said.
The IIHS, an independent organization funded by the insurance industry, evaluates vehicle safety to help consumers make informed purchasing decisions.
