Marlies Shut Out in Laval as Rocket’s Dauphin Nets Hat Trick
LAVAL, QC – The Toronto Marlies struggled to generate offense on Wednesday night, falling 3-0 to the Laval Rocket at Place Bell. Laval forward Laurent Dauphin provided all the scoring, recording a natural hat trick to secure the win for the home team.
The game remained scoreless through the first period, with both teams trading penalties but unable to capitalize on their power-play opportunities. The Marlies managed just six shots on goal in the opening frame, while Laval registered eight.
Dauphin opened the scoring at 11:03 of the second period with a shorthanded goal, beating Toronto goaltender Matt Murray. The Rocket forward struck again at 17:52, finishing off a play set up by Sean Farrell and Logan Mailloux to extend Laval’s lead to 2-0 heading into the third.

Despite Toronto’s attempts to break through, Laval’s defense remained firm, limiting the Marlies to just four shots in the final frame. Toronto pulled Murray late in an effort to close the gap, but Dauphin completed his hat trick with an empty-net goal at 17:29 to seal the victory.
Laval goaltender Cayden Primeau stopped all 18 shots he faced, earning his second shutout of the season and improving his record to 16-2-0. Murray made 21 saves on 23 shots for Toronto but didn’t receive the offensive support needed to turn the game around.
Neither team found success on the power play, with Toronto going 0-for-4 and Laval 0-for-5. The Marlies, now 8-5-3 with Murray in net, will look to regroup as they continue their road trip.
Toronto will be back in action on Friday as they travel to face the Belleville Senators, hoping to bounce back from their offensive struggles in Laval.
