Markham Hosts Largest Little Native Hockey League Tournament with 276 Teams

MARKHAM, ON – The City of Markham is once again welcoming the Little Native Hockey League (LNHL) tournament, the largest Indigenous youth hockey tournament in Ontario. With 276 teams and over 5,000 players competing this year, the event provides First Nations youth with a platform to showcase their skills while embracing the values of fair play, respect, and sportsmanship.

Mayor Frank Scarpitti expressed his enthusiasm for the event, highlighting Markham’s pride in hosting the tournament, which continues to grow each year. The LNHL has become a significant opportunity for Indigenous youth to engage in competitive hockey while fostering a sense of community and cultural pride.

The tournament, which has been a staple in Ontario’s hockey calendar, brings together players, families, and communities from across the province. As participation reaches new heights, the event underscores the importance of inclusivity in sports and the growing prominence of Indigenous hockey talent.

With games set to take place throughout the city, Markham is poised to deliver another successful edition of the LNHL, celebrating both the athleticism and heritage of First Nations youth in Ontario.
