Maple Leafs Fall in Shootout Despite Late Rally in San Jose

TORONTO – The Toronto Maple Leafs faced a tough 6-5 shootout loss to the San Jose Sharks last night at SAP Center. Despite a valiant comeback in the final minute of regulation, the Leafs couldn’t secure the win in the shootout.​

Tyler Toffoli led the Sharks with two goals and an assist, while William Nylander stood out for Toronto, netting two goals, including the game-tying goal with just 14 seconds remaining. John Tavares contributed a goal and an assist, and Mitch Marner provided three assists. Goaltender Joseph Woll made 30 saves for the Leafs.​

Despite the loss, Toronto managed to earn a point, bringing their season record to 43-25-4, maintaining their lead in the Atlantic Division.

The Maple Leafs will continue their California road trip with upcoming games against the Los Angeles Kings on March 29 and the Anaheim Ducks on March 30.​
