Maple Leafs Dominate Flames with 6-2 Victory at Scotiabank Arena

TORONTO – The Toronto Maple Leafs put on an offensive showcase at Scotiabank Arena on Monday night, securing a decisive 6-2 victory over the Calgary Flames. The win marks Toronto’s 67th game of the season and their 35th on home ice, reinforcing their push toward the postseason.

Auston Matthews led the charge for the Leafs with two power-play goals, bringing his season tally to 26. William Nylander and Max Domi also had standout performances, combining for five points in the game.

Toronto wasted no time getting on the board, as Domi struck early at 1:47 in the first period with a slick finish, assisted by Simon Benoit and Oliver Ekman-Larsson. The Flames responded late in the period when Rasmus Andersson found the back of the net at 19:13, leveling the score at 1-1 heading into intermission.

The second period belonged to the Maple Leafs, who erupted with three unanswered goals. Nylander converted on a power play at 1:39, set up by Mitch Marner and Matthews. Just under eight minutes later, Nick Robertson extended the lead with an even-strength marker, assisted by Domi and Ekman-Larsson. Toronto capitalized on special teams once again, with Matthews netting back-to-back power-play goals at 15:41 and 18:54, courtesy of setups from Nylander, Marner, and Matthew Knies.

Toronto’s defense held strong in the third, limiting Calgary to one late goal. Bobby McMann further extended the lead at 3:03, assisted by Morgan Rielly and Calle Jarnkrok. The Flames’ Kevin Bahl managed to break through with a goal at 19:12, but it was too little, too late.

Joseph Woll backstopped the Leafs to victory, making 23 saves on 25 shots, while Dustin Wolf and Dan Vladar split duties in net for Calgary. Wolf, who started the game, conceded five goals on 26 shots before being relieved by Vladar.

Toronto’s penalty kill was perfect on the night, shutting down all four of Calgary’s power-play opportunities. Meanwhile, the Leafs took full advantage of their chances, scoring on all three of their power-play attempts in just over three minutes of total power-play time.

With this victory, the Leafs maintain their momentum as they continue their campaign for playoff positioning. Toronto will look to build on this dominant performance when they hit the ice on Wednesday against Colorado Avalanche at Scotiabank Arena.
