Major Reshuffle in Canada’s Public Service Announced by Prime Minister Trudeau
Ottawa, Ontario — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced significant changes today within the senior ranks of the public service, aiming to enhance the government’s operational effectiveness. Key Appointments:
- Christiane (Chris) Fox, the current Deputy Clerk of the Privy Council and Associate Secretary to the Cabinet, will assume the role of Deputy Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Privy Council Office, starting on October 21, 2024.
- Philip Jennings, previously serving as the Executive Director for Canada, Ireland, and the Caribbean at the International Monetary Fund, will become the Deputy Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development effective November 4, 2024.
- Tricia Geddes, who has held the position of Associate Deputy Minister of Public Safety, will step up as the Deputy Minister of Public Safety on October 31, 2024.
- Daniel Rogers, currently the Deputy National Security and Intelligence Advisor to the Prime Minister, will transition to the role of Director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) on October 28, 2024.
- Tushara Williams, now Deputy Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, will become the Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Operations) effective October 21, 2024.
- Kaili Levesque, who is currently Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Operations), will move to become the Associate Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, also on October 21, 2024.
- Kevin Brosseau, presently the Associate Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, will take on the role of Deputy National Security and Intelligence Advisor to the Prime Minister as well as Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Emergency Preparedness), starting October 21, 2024.
