Lilly Singh Joins Toronto Tempo Ownership Group, Will Serve as Chief Hype Officer
Toronto — Canadian superstar Lilly Singh is bringing her Scarborough pride and powerhouse energy to the basketball court as the newest member of the Toronto Tempo ownership group, the team announced today.
Singh, a trailblazing entertainer, entrepreneur, and advocate, joins an impressive ownership lineup that includes Serena Williams, Sukhinder Singh Cassidy, and Larry Tanenbaum as Toronto’s WNBA expansion team prepares to tip off in 2026 at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
“I love women. I love Toronto. Joining the ownership group of the Tempo is an absolute no-brainer — I can’t think of anything else I would rather spend my money, time, and hype-woman energy on,” said Singh.
In addition to her role as an owner, Singh will take on the newly created title of Chief Hype Officer, where she will lead fan community-building, curate in-game rituals, and amplify the culture of women’s basketball in Toronto and beyond.
“Lilly is a creative visionary with infectious energy and enthusiasm,” said Teresa Resch, President, Tempo Basketball Club. “She’s been one of the earliest and most vocal supporters of this team, and we’re thrilled to have her as part of our ownership group.”
Singh’s addition is part of the Tempo’s mission to build a franchise that celebrates the intersection of sport, culture, and community, both on and off the court. A co-owner of Angel City FC in the NWSL, Singh brings her expertise in storytelling, digital media, and socially-driven community engagement.
