LEGO Unveils The Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set
Toronto, ON – On Tuesday, the LEGO Group unveiled an exciting new addition to their lineup, the LEGO® The Legend of Zelda™ Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 Set. This highly anticipated release pays homage to a cherished character from Nintendo’s legendary gaming series, offering fans an intricately designed set that can be built as either the Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time or from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Consisting of 2,500 pieces, the set is a masterpiece of detailed craftsmanship, capturing the essence of adventure and nostalgia. Builders can recreate iconic scenes, such as the Master Sword pedestal from Breath of the Wild and Link’s House from Ocarina of Time, allowing for a customizable display that fans of all ages will appreciate. The build is elegantly mounted on stands for effortless showcasing.
The set includes unique interactive features: in the Breath of the Wild version, the Great Deku Tree’s face can be animated with the press of a lever, while in the Ocarina of Time version, the tree’s mouth opens to reveal a cleverly designed Skulltula descending into its depths. This adds a dynamic element to the building experience.
“I’m really thrilled that The Legend of Zelda is joining the world of LEGO bricks, which has spurred the creative impulses of so many people of all ages. The Deku Tree was the first element from The Legend of Zelda we wanted to represent using LEGO bricks. This set allows you to build two different versions of the Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with unique features that are a great fit for the nature of the series. I can’t wait for everyone to get the chance to build this part of The Legend of Zelda world with their own hands”.
Wes Talbott, the LEGO Designer behind the set, shared his thoughts on the creative process. “Our fans have been asking for a LEGO set based on The Legend of Zelda series for a while so we were delighted to work with Nintendo to create the Great Deku Tree in brick form. As a fan of the franchise, it was great to work on this set and fill it with details and references from the games. I’m also glad we managed to offer the choice to build one of two versions to appeal to many Zelda fans. I can’t wait to see the fans reaction to this set.”
In addition to the two tree versions, the set includes four LEGO minifigures depicting iconic characters. From Breath of the Wild, Princess Zelda and Link are featured in their recognizable blue attire. The Ocarina of Time version includes both Young Link and Link. Also included are buildable characters and creatures such as Hestu the Korok with his maracas, several smaller Koroks, Deku Babas, Navi the Fairy, the Deku Sprout, and a Skulltula.
