Kim Roberts Stars in Andrea Scott’s “Get That Hope” at the Stratford Festival

Toronto, ON – This summer, the Stratford Festival will debut award-winning playwright Andrea Scott’s latest production, “Get That Hope,” featuring the internationally acclaimed Canadian actress Kim Roberts. With an impressive portfolio of over 200 credits, including notable roles in “Paw Patrol,” “The Changeling,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Schitt’s Creek,” “The Good Doctor,” and “Alert: Missing Persons Unit,” Roberts continues to captivate audiences on both stage and screen.

Kim Roberts, who is also a co-founder of the Obsidian Theatre Company, Canada’s leading Black Theatre company, will take on the role of Margaret Whyte in this world premiere. The production will run from July 21 to September 28, 2024, at the Stratford Festival.

About “Get That Hope”

Set against the backdrop of Toronto’s Little Jamaica, “Get That Hope” introduces Richard Whyte, a man determined to celebrate Jamaican Independence Day in grand style. With the rice soaking, ginger beer cooling, and high hopes for a winning lottery ticket, Richard’s plans are threatened by his squabbling family. Over a sweltering day, buried secrets and dreams emerge, challenging the true meaning of independence.

Kim Roberts is a distinguished actress known for her versatility and depth in a wide range of roles. She has significantly contributed to the Canadian and international entertainment industry, both on screen and stage. As a co-founder of the Obsidian Theatre Company, Roberts has been instrumental in promoting Black theatre and providing a platform for Black artists in Canada.
