Kia EV5 Electric SUV Set to Launch Exclusively in Canada by Spring 2026
New EV expands Kia’s affordable electric lineup with bold design, luxury interior, and multiple powertrain options
TORONTO — Kia Canada has confirmed that its all-new EV5 electric SUV will arrive in Spring 2026, marking a major milestone in the company’s Canadian electric vehicle (EV) strategy. Set to launch exclusively in Canada for the North American market, the EV5 is one of three new EV models Kia plans to release next year as it continues to expand access to battery-powered vehicles across the country.
Entering Canada’s largest vehicle segment, the compact SUV category, the EV5 is designed to remove the affordability barrier many buyers face when considering an EV. Kia says the model will offer a balance of premium design, spacious interior, and the performance benefits of electric driving—without the premium price tag.
Built for Canadian Drivers
Production for the Canadian market will take place at Kia’s Autoland Gwangju plant in South Korea, a cutting-edge facility dedicated to EV manufacturing. Although pricing, range, and final specifications are still under wraps, the company says full details will be shared closer to launch.
Bold Design, Familiar DNA
Inspired by Kia’s flagship EV9, the EV5 carries the same futuristic styling with a sculpted exterior and bold proportions. The signature “tiger face” grille, along with 3D star-map LED lighting, gives the EV5 a commanding presence on the road. The SUV will also be available in eight colours, including two brand-new hues: Magma Red and Frost Blue.
Alloy wheels in 18″, 19″, or 20″ sizes and a sporty rear spoiler round out the EV5’s striking exterior.
Where Sport Meets Comfort
Inside, the EV5 features a panoramic 30-inch display, eco-conscious materials, and seating for five with generous legroom and shoulder space. The flat-folding rear seats, front trunk (frunk), and clever console storage offer added utility for Canadian families. A customizable mood lighting system adds ambiance to the cabin, making the EV5 feel as luxurious as it is functional.
Battery and Drive Options
Kia’s EV5 will offer two battery choices: a standard-range 60.3 kWh and a long-range 81.4 kWh version. Buyers can choose between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, ensuring the EV5 is ready for Canadian winters and driving conditions. The vehicle will also feature the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, making it compatible with a growing network of DC fast-charging stations across Canada.
The EV5 joins the EV6 and EV9 in Kia’s growing EV portfolio, as the company accelerates toward a more sustainable future with vehicles that meet both environmental and consumer needs.
