Justin Trudeau Congratulates Susan Holt as First Female Premier of New Brunswick

Ottawa, Ontario – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has officially congratulated Susan Holt and the Liberal Party of New Brunswick on their election victory. Holt made history by becoming the first woman to hold the office of Premier in the province.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Trudeau expressed his enthusiasm about working alongside Premier-designate Holt to address pressing concerns in New Brunswick and across Canada. “Our shared work will include improving access to health care, making life more affordable, building more homes, investing in infrastructure, and cutting emissions,” said Trudeau.

He also acknowledged New Brunswick’s unique position as Canada’s only officially bilingual province, reaffirming the federal government’s commitment to promoting the French language and supporting the vitality of Acadian communities.

Trudeau thanked outgoing Premier Blaine Higgs for his six years of service, wishing him well in his future endeavours.

With Susan Holt at the helm, New Brunswick’s future promises new leadership and a focus on collaboration between provincial and federal governments to address key issues affecting residents in the province and beyond.
