Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson Reunite for New Private Eyes Spinoff Set in Victoria, B.C.

Production begins June 5 on Global’s sun-soaked West Coast reboot of the hit detective series

TORONTO — Canadian fan favourites Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson are set to reprise their roles as Matt Shade and Angie Everett in Private Eyes West Coast, a brand-new spinoff of the popular Global series. Cameras begin rolling June 5 on Vancouver Island, where the new 10-episode season will be filmed entirely in and around Victoria, B.C.

Following the events of the original series, which ran for five seasons from 2016 to 2021 and was sold to over 180 international markets, the spinoff follows the sharp-tongued private investigators as they start fresh in a coastal setting. With a brand-new slate of cases and characters, Private Eyes West Coast promises a blend of suspense, charm, and cinematic ocean views.

“This is a west coast reinvention—same sharp wit, same beloved lead characters, brand new mysteries, with stunning new views,” said Executive Producers Shawn Piller and Lloyd Segan, who are returning to helm the series alongside Priestley.

The series comes from Lionsgate Canada and Piller/Segan, and is produced in partnership with Corus Entertainment. Sarah Dodd and Jennifer Kassabian serve as showrunners, with additional executive producers including Jocelyn Hamilton and Priestley himself. Piller will direct the pilot episode, with subsequent episodes directed by Priestley, James Genn, Shannon Kohli, and Alysse Leite-Rogers.

“Victoria gives us a new cinematic canvas and a chance to evolve the series in fresh and unexpected ways,” added the producers.

While storyline and casting details remain under wraps, production will continue throughout the summer, with a first look expected later this year.

Private Eyes West Coast will air on Global and stream via the Global TV App, Amazon Prime Video Channels, FuboTV, Rogers Ignite TV and other platforms. The spinoff joins Corus’ growing portfolio of Canadian scripted originals, building on the success of franchises like Wild Cards and Hudson & Rex.
