Invest Mississauga Wins Two National Awards for Excellence in Economic Development Marketing
EDAC honours Mississauga for leadership in community collaboration and data-driven marketing publications
MISSISSAUGA — Invest Mississauga, the City’s economic development division, has earned national recognition with two prestigious awards from the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC), underscoring its continued innovation and leadership in promoting Mississauga as a hub for investment and entrepreneurship.
The awards — presented during EDAC’s annual national conference on October 7 — recognized Invest Mississauga’s achievements in two categories: Publications and Community Collaboration. Both honours highlight the City’s creative, data-driven approach to attracting business investment while fostering inclusive economic growth.
Supporting entrepreneurs through community collaboration
The Community Collaboration Award was presented to the IDEA Square One Entrepreneurship Hub, powered by Invest Mississauga. The hub was recognized for its inclusive model that empowers entrepreneurs from underrepresented communities through strong partnerships with post-secondary institutions, chambers of commerce, non-profits, and local businesses.
Through initiatives such as the Step-Up Program, Starter Company Plus, Summer Company, and EmpowHER Tech Launchpad, IDEA Mississauga continues to drive equitable access to mentorship, funding, and training for startups and small businesses across the city.
Showcasing Mississauga’s key industries on the global stage
Invest Mississauga also received the Publication Award for its Key Industry Profiles, a series of sector-specific brochures highlighting the city’s strengths in Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, Technology, and Smart Logistics. These visually engaging, data-rich publications help global investors and business leaders make informed decisions by presenting Mississauga’s economic potential in a concise and compelling format.
The brochures have also been instrumental in promoting Mississauga internationally, featured at major events such as the BIO Conference in Boston, Hannover Messe in Germany, and during global investment missions to Japan.
