Insigne Leads Toronto FC to First Home Win of 2025
Italian star scores and assists in 2–0 victory over D.C. United at BMO Field
TORONTO — Toronto FC secured their first home victory of the 2025 MLS season with a 2–0 win over D.C. United on Saturday, May 10, at BMO Field. Lorenzo Insigne opened the scoring in the 49th minute with a diving header, his first goal of the season, assisted by Theo Corbeanu. In the 66th minute, Insigne’s cross led to an own goal by D.C. defender Lucas Bartlett, doubling Toronto’s lead. Goalkeeper Sean Johnson preserved the clean sheet with a crucial save in the 85th minute. The victory improves Toronto’s record to 2-6-4 (10 points), while D.C. United falls to 3-6-3 (12 points).
