Honey Badgers Celebrate Small Business Month by Visiting Over 50 Local Businesses in Downtown Brampton

Brampton – The Brampton Honey Badgers took to the streets on Wednesday afternoon to celebrate Small Business Month, partnering with the Downtown Brampton Business Improvement Area (BIA) for the occasion. The team’s front office staff visited more than 50 local businesses, extending tokens of appreciation that ranged from local coffee shops to retail stores and eateries. Brampton boasts thousands of small businesses, with over 300 situated in the downtown area, serving as the city’s backbone.

Josie Pingitore, Vice President of the Brampton Honey Badgers, highlighted the team’s commitment to community engagement. “Supporting local businesses is a huge priority for our organization,” she said. “Our organization is committed to continuing our efforts in the community as we look to make strides in utilizing the Honey Badgers as a vehicle for community growth.”

The Honey Badgers kicked off their day at Trish Juice Brampton, a well-loved downtown staple known for its fresh fruit and vegetable smoothies and juices. Now in its eighth year, the business has carved out a reputation for offering a refreshing approach to wellness. Tammy, a representative from Trish Juice, expressed the joy of being part of Brampton’s local business scene. “This city is very close to our heart, and we are so happy to be a small business in this amazing community,” she shared. “The most rewarding part of what we do is seeing the smiles on our customer’s faces and knowing that we are serving them healthy and nutritious goods every day.”

The team then stopped at Pizzanini, a family-owned restaurant located across from Brampton City Hall. Since opening in 2019, Pizzanini has become a favorite in the community, known for its dedication to family values and community engagement. Owner Mark Sich spoke on the importance of relationships built through the business. “Building meaningful relationships with people from all walks of life across this city is the best part of being a small business,” he said. “The community support we’ve received since the day we opened has been overwhelming. The downtown Brampton community is truly one big family, and it means a lot to us to be a part of it.”

Other businesses visited by the Honey Badgers included Downtown Brampton Wellness Centre, Indian Curry Express & Bar, Brampton Boxing, La Favorita, and Hopen Doors, showcasing the diversity of enterprises that contribute to the local economy.

With the Canadian Elite Basketball League’s (CEBL) seventh season set to tip off in May 2025, the Honey Badgers are gearing up for another exciting year.
