Halton Hills Launches Community Socials to Strengthen Neighbourhood Connections

Halton Hills Community Socials encourage residents to connect through the Hey Neighbour program

HALTON HILLS — The Town of Halton Hills is continuing its efforts to strengthen neighbourhood relationships through a new series of Community Social events this spring.

Organized through the Town’s “Hey Neighbour” program, the upcoming gatherings in Georgetown and Acton are designed to encourage residents to meet one another, connect with Town staff and local officials, and build stronger community ties in a relaxed setting.

Mayor Ann Lawlor said the initiative reflects the community-focused spirit that defines Halton Hills.

“Knowing your neighbours is part of what makes small-town living so special,” Lawlor said in a statement. “The Hey Neighbour program brings our Town’s motto to life by creating opportunities for residents to connect through relaxed, enjoyable gatherings.”

Events Planned in Georgetown and Acton

The Community Socials will take place at:

  • Saturday, May 9 — Eighth Line Park, 10241 8th Line, Georgetown
  • Saturday, May 30 — Prospect Park, 30 Park Ave., Acton

Both events will run from 10 a.m. to noon.

Residents attending the gatherings will have opportunities to:

  • Meet neighbours and local officials
  • Speak with the Hey Neighbour team
  • Connect with first responders
  • Explore EMS vehicles
  • Participate in outdoor activities
  • Learn more about Town services and programs

Coffee and light refreshments will also be available during the events.

Building Community Through Local Engagement

The Hey Neighbour initiative is part of the Town’s broader focus on community engagement and neighbourhood connection.

Town officials say programs like the Community Socials help create a more welcoming and connected environment by encouraging residents to engage with one another outside of formal settings.

The Town notes that the events will proceed “grey or shine.”

More information about the Community Socials and the Hey Neighbour program is available through the Town of Halton Hills website.
