Halton Hills to table 2026 Budget November 3, residents invited to share feedback

Town emphasizes essential services and infrastructure repairs in proposed “no-frills” budget

HALTON HILLS — The Town of Halton Hills will release its proposed 2026 Budget on Monday, November 3, inviting residents and stakeholders to review the plan and share feedback through the Town’s online engagement platform, Let’s Talk Halton Hills.

Mayor Ann Lawlor described the upcoming financial plan as a “no-frills budget” that focuses on maintaining essential services and addressing urgent infrastructure needs while remaining fiscally responsible.

“This is a no-frills budget,” said Lawlor. “It will allow urgent repairs and maintenance of high priority roads and bridges. Essential services such as our Fire Department are being supported. We are responding to high demand services such as building permits and swimming lessons which are offset by user fees. The budget reflects community needs while remaining fiscally responsible with a target of 3.5% tax increase for the local, Town portion of the total property tax.”

Online engagement and participation

The Town’s digital engagement hub, letstalkhaltonhills.ca, will host the complete set of budget documents, including:

  • Detailed budget information outlining key priorities and allocations.

  • A short survey where residents can share their funding priorities.

  • A comment section for direct feedback to Council and staff.

Budget Town Hall on November 12

To encourage open dialogue, Mayor Lawlor and Town Council will host a Budget Town Hall on Wednesday, November 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 1 Halton Hills Drive (Town Hall). The meeting will include a presentation highlighting key budget items, followed by opportunities for residents to share input in person or virtually.

The session will be livestreamed, and no pre-registration is required. Residents are welcome to speak for up to five minutes to share their perspectives as time permits.

Budget deliberations in December

The Budget Committee Meetings will take place on December 1 and 2, when Town Council will review and finalize the 2026 Budget.

Halton Hills’ approach to budgeting this year continues to emphasize financial discipline while prioritizing community safety, infrastructure upkeep, and responsive public services.
