Grounded Exhibit Showcases Emerging Artists at Mississauga Living Arts Centre

The Grounded exhibit at the Living Arts Centre showcases contemporary artwork from artists in Mississauga’s Resident Artist Program.

MISSISSAUGA — A new art exhibition at the Living Arts Centre is giving residents an opportunity to explore contemporary creativity while supporting local artists in Mississauga.

Grounded, running from May 5 to May 24, highlights the work of artists participating in the City of Mississauga’s Resident Artist Program. The exhibition explores how artists transform everyday materials into new forms of creative expression.

Celebrating Contemporary Artistic Practice

According to the City, the 2026 exhibition theme, Grounded, reflects artists working as “key voices in contemporary practice,” focusing on overlooked moments and the transformation of materials into new ideas and artistic interpretations.

The exhibit features artwork from artists connected to the Resident Artist Program, which provides professional studio space and support opportunities for emerging and mid-career creators.

Supporting Mississauga’s Creative Community

The Resident Artist Program is offered annually through the Living Arts Centre and supports artists across nine disciplines, including recent graduates from arts and design institutions.

Program participants benefit from:

  • Access to specialized equipment
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Networking support
  • Public exhibition opportunities

City officials say the initiative supports Mississauga’s broader cultural goals by strengthening the local arts sector and increasing public access to creative experiences.

The program also aligns with the City’s Future Directions Culture Plan, which focuses on expanding arts and culture opportunities throughout Mississauga.

Mississauga Continues Investing in Arts and Culture

The City says ongoing investments in cultural infrastructure and artist support programs have helped Mississauga continue growing as a regional creative hub.

The Grounded exhibition is free to attend and open to the public without registration.

Residents interested in learning more about the exhibit or applying to future editions of the Resident Artist Program can visit the City’s official event and arts webpages.
