Community Improvement Plan Boosts Downtown Georgetown Storefront

Halton Hills’ façade improvement program helps preserve heritage charm and support local business revitalization

HALTON HILLS — The Town of Halton Hills is celebrating the success of a downtown revitalization project that has breathed new life into one of Georgetown’s Main Street storefronts.

Through the Town’s Community Improvement Plan (CIP), Accountants on Main — a long-established Chartered Professional Accountants firm located at 52 Main Street South — has completed a façade improvement project, supported by a $12,045.74 grant from the Town.

The upgrades included mural wall and masonry repairs, office entryway flooring replacement, and front window panel restoration, enhancing both the aesthetic appeal and structural integrity of the building.

“The improvements at Accountants on Main showcase how our Community Improvement Plan directly supports local businesses in creating attractive, welcoming storefronts.” said Mayor Ann Lawlor. “In particular, I’m pleased that the heritage aspects of the building are being maintained and that the striking mural has remained as a vibrant piece in our downtown.”

For more than two decades, Accountants on Main has served Georgetown and the surrounding area, offering comprehensive accounting, taxation, and business advisory services. The façade restoration is the latest example of how local businesses are using the CIP’s Façade Improvement Program to blend modernization with heritage preservation.

The Community Improvement Plan provides grants and loans to help property owners improve commercial spaces, attract private investment, and revitalize downtown areas. According to the Town, for every $1 invested by the municipality, up to $6 in private sector investment can be leveraged — multiplying the economic and visual impact on the community.

Administered by the Town’s Economic Development and Innovation Division, the CIP aligns with Halton Hills’ strategic goals of economic growth, heritage conservation, and main street revitalization.

The project’s completion was marked on October 15, with Councillors Norris and Garneau, and Economic Development staff, presenting the grant cheque to Accountants on Main during a small ceremony.
