OSHAWA – The Oshawa Generals held off the Sudbury Wolves in a tightly contested Ontario Hockey League (OHL) matchup on Sunday night, securing a 3-2 victory at the Tribute Communities Centre.
The Generals struck early, netting two goals in quick succession late in the first period. Brooks Rogowski opened the scoring at 15:07 with assists from Matthew Buckley and Andrew Gibson. Less than a minute later, Luca Marrelli extended Oshawa’s lead, converting a setup from Owen Griffin and Gibson to send the home team into the first intermission up 2-0.
Oshawa continued to press in the second period, adding another tally at 4:59 when Luke Torrance found the back of the net off assists from Marrelli and Griffin. Sudbury responded late in the period on the power play, as Kieron Walton capitalized at 17:50, assisted by Ondrej Molnar and Henry Mews.

Trailing 3-1 heading into the final frame, the Wolves mounted pressure but struggled to break through Oshawa’s defensive structure. Walton notched his second of the game at 19:11, combining with Alex Pharand and Molnar, but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.
Special teams played a crucial role, with Sudbury converting one of two power-play opportunities while Oshawa went scoreless on six chances with the man advantage. The game saw a total of 22 penalty minutes handed out, with Sudbury accumulating 14 minutes across eight infractions.
Oshawa netminder Jacob Oster stood tall, stopping 12 of 14 shots to earn the win. On the other end, Nate Krawchuk faced 50 shots, making 45 saves in a valiant effort for Sudbury.
With the win, Oshawa continues to build momentum in the playoff race, while Sudbury looks to regroup ahead of their next contest.
The Generals will be back in action on Thursday as they prepare to take on the North Bay Battalion aiming to build on Sunday’s success.
