Food For Good Expands School Lunch Program Across Ontario
NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO — Food For Good, an innovative school lunch program, is making significant strides in Ontario. Launched in September 2022 as a pilot, the program has achieved a record 94% customer satisfaction rate and has donated over $10,000 to partner schools and local kids’ nutrition programs.
Expanding beyond the Niagara region, Food For Good now offers its services to summer school programs and camps. The newly upgraded online platform has been well-received, providing features such as advance scheduling, automatic reporting, allergy management, and enhanced customer service, making meal planning more convenient for parents, teachers, and school administrators.
“It still feels surreal to be a new company with just a goal of serving easy, affordable, and nutritious lunch meals to schools in the Niagara region.,” said Mike Rizzo, CEO of Food For Good. “While we cannot feed every school child free of charge, we make it a point to widen the scope of the program’s benefit to underserved students.”
The program partners with local food vendors to ensure meals meet Canadian Nutritional Guidelines, with prices ranging from $3.25 to $7.25. Each meal is carefully evaluated by a program nutritionist to adhere to Canada’s Dietary Guidelines and Sabrina’s Law for allergen management.
Food For Good aims to revolutionize school nutrition by continually improving its offerings and expanding its reach, inspired by research from the Arrell Food Institute at the University of Guelph.
“Our recent inspiration is derived from the recent discussion paper presented by the prestigious Arrell Food Institute at the University of Guelph which outlined key characteristics of what a successful school nutrition program should be, and we are proud to say that we have checked everything on the list.” Rizzo stated.
