Corus Entertainment Secures 45 Canadian Screen Awards Nominations Across Global, W Network, YTV, and More
Toronto – Corus Entertainment is celebrating a major achievement after earning 45 nominations for the 2025 Canadian Screen Awards. The nominations span a wide range of programming from reality TV and kids’ content to news and lifestyle, underscoring the company’s national impact across multiple genres and platforms.
Global Television earned three nominations for Big Brother Canada, including Best Direction, Reality/Competition, and Best Picture Editing. Meanwhile, Global News continues its streak of excellence with 10 nominations, including Best National Newscast for Global National—marking its 13th consecutive year being recognized in this category. Anchor Dawna Friesen and national reporter Jeff Semple are among the individual nominees.
Corus’ lifestyle channels also made a strong showing, with 11 nominations recognizing standout programs like Top Chef Canada, Styled, and Don’t Hate Your House with the Property Brothers. The scripted true-crime film Abducted Off the Street: The Carlesha Gaither Story picked up four nominations on Lifetime, while Buying Back My Daughter earned a nod for Best TV Movie.
W Network received seven nominations, including three for the holiday feature ’Twas the Date Before Christmas and two for the new mystery series Mistletoe Murders – Poison in a Pear Tree – Part 1.
Corus Kids dominated the children’s categories with 14 nominations across YTV and Treehouse. Popular shows like Popularity Papers, Geek Girl, and The Next Step were honoured, alongside Treehouse favourites Rubble & Crew and Builder Brothers Dream Factory.
Rachel Nelson, Vice President of Original Programming and Head of Corus Studios, acknowledged the significance of the recognition, stating that the nominations are a testament to Corus’ ongoing investment in Canadian storytelling and talent. Ward Smith, Senior Vice President of Global News and Corus Audio, added that the news nominations reflect the team’s continued commitment to delivering accurate and impactful journalism.
