Construction Begins on Excelligent Care – Milton, a New 192-Bed Long-Term Care Home

MILTON – Construction is now underway on Excelligent Care – Milton, a new long-term care home that will provide 192 beds in a modern, community-focused environment. The project is supported by the Ontario government’s Construction Funding Subsidy top-up, part of a province-wide effort to deliver 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds.

Minister of Long-Term Care Natalia Kusendova-Bashta praised the development, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing care for Ontario seniors. “Congratulations to the team at Excelligent Care on this exciting achievement. Our government is building Ontario’s long-term care capacity to ensure seniors can remain in the communities they helped build,” she said.

Set to open in late 2026, the four-storey facility will consist of six “resident home areas” (RHAs), each designed to provide a close-knit, welcoming atmosphere for up to 32 residents. These areas will include dining spaces, activity rooms, and lounges to foster community living. The home will also feature amenities such as a café, hair salon, secured garden, and elder-friendly design elements, ensuring comfort and safety.

Notably, Excelligent Care – Milton will include one RHA offering culturally appropriate care tailored to Milton’s Muslim community. This specialized care area will provide support for prayer, ablutions, and halal meals, making it one of the first homes in the area to address specific cultural needs in long-term care.

The project aligns with Ontario’s broader plan to reform long-term care through four key pillars: increasing staffing and care, improving quality and enforcement, building modern facilities, and connecting seniors to accessible services.

Excelligent Care – Milton represents a significant step forward in ensuring seniors in the Milton area have access to safe, inclusive, and comfortable care within their community.
