City of Toronto Celebrates Graduation of 37 New Paramedics and Emergency Telecommunicators
Toronto – The City of Toronto proudly welcomed 37 new frontline staff members to Toronto Paramedic Services (TPS) at a graduation ceremony held Tuesday afternoon. The ceremony celebrated the addition of 35 new Primary Care Paramedics and two Emergency Telecommunicators who have successfully completed their rigorous training programs.
These new recruits are set to bolster TPS, known for its exemplary pre-hospital emergency care. The service operates around the clock, providing critical care that can often make the difference between life and death for individuals in distress. With their addition, TPS aims to enhance its ability to respond swiftly and effectively to emergency situations across the city.

Toronto Paramedic Services is distinguished by its high standards of emergency response. The Communications Centre, which supports the service, has earned the Accredited Centre of Excellence title from the International Academies of Emergency Medical Dispatch (IAED) on six occasions. This prestigious recognition underscores the Centre’s role as a vital link between those in need of help and the emergency medical resources required.
Chief Bikram Chawla of Toronto Paramedic Services expressed his pride in the new recruits, stating, “I am honoured to welcome our new recruits to Toronto Paramedic Services today.
