City of Toronto and Giants of Africa Unveil Revitalized Basketball Courts at Firgrove Park
Toronto, ON – The City of Toronto, in collaboration with nonprofit Giants of Africa, has unveiled two newly revitalized basketball courts at Firgrove Park. The courts, which aim to foster community engagement and provide a safe space for local youth, were officially opened during a special event attended by Mayor Olivia Chow, Councillor Anthony Perruzza (Humber River–Black Creek), and Raptors President Masai Ujiri, who co-founded Giants of Africa.
The unveiling event featured a youth basketball clinic, offering young boys and girls the chance to learn and sharpen their skills under the guidance of NBA personnel, Raptors development coaches, and Giants of Africa coaches. The initiative is part of Giants of Africa’s broader mission to empower youth through sports and was made possible by sponsorship from George Brown College, alongside support from the City of Toronto and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE).

The revitalization of Firgrove Park stands as a testament to the positive impact of strategic partnerships on local communities, particularly in engaging youth and promoting social cohesion.
