Mississauga – The City of Mississauga has announced the appointment of Graham Walsh as the new City Solicitor and Director of Legal Services, effective immediately. In his new role, Walsh will oversee all aspects of the City’s Legal Services team and report directly to the City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Walsh, who originally joined the City of Mississauga in 2012 as legal counsel, has a distinguished career in municipal law. Walsh’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts from King’s University College, Western University, a Master of Arts from the Royal Military College of Canada, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law. His commitment to service is further reflected in his receipt of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers. Walsh is also the Vice-Chair of the Municipal Law Department’s Association of Ontario and an alumnus of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference.

In addition to his legal career, Walsh has a notable background in the Canadian Army Reserve, where he holds the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and is a former Commanding Officer of the Toronto Scottish Regiment. In 2010, he was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Canada’s mission to rebuild Kandahar Province.

Mayor Carolyn Parrish commented, “On behalf of Council, I wish to congratulate Graham on his new role as Mississauga’s City Solicitor. With his extensive experience across both municipal and private sectors, combined with a solid understanding of our organization, he is well-equipped to lead our Legal Services team with professionalism and excellence.”

Geoff Wright, City Manager and CAO, added, “I’m very pleased to welcome Graham back to the City of Mississauga as our new City Solicitor. His experience, leadership skills, and deep understanding of municipal governance will be invaluable. Graham will provide essential legal guidance to the Council, senior leadership, and City staff as they continue to deliver the municipal programs and services residents rely on.”

Walsh expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “I’m excited to return to the City and to apply my legal expertise and experience in this new role. It’s an honour to support the Mayor, Council, City Manager as well as staff and to contribute to key priorities and projects that are instrumental in shaping Mississauga.”

Graham Walsh’s appointment as City Solicitor and Director of Legal Services marks a significant step in his distinguished career, reflecting his dedication to public service and municipal law.
