Chris Boucher’s SlimmDuck Foundation Hosts Youth Mental Health Event with TMU, Kids Help Phone, and CMHA Toronto
Toronto — As Canada marks Mental Health Week, NBA champion Chris Boucher is using his platform to shine a spotlight on youth wellness through sport and support. His SlimmDuck Foundation is teaming up with Kids Help Phone, CMHA Toronto, and Toronto Metropolitan University for a special youth-focused event called the “MindFull Basketball and Mental Health Clinic.”
Set to take place today, Tuesday, May 6 at TMU’s Mattamy Athletic Centre, the event will welcome 100 youth ages 10 to 14 for a half-day of basketball skills development and mental health programming.
The morning begins with an on-court clinic led by the TMU Bold Men’s Basketball Team, followed by interactive mental health sessions delivered by staff from Kids Help Phone and CMHA Toronto. Participants will also enjoy lunch and take home resources designed to support ongoing mental wellness.
“Mental health is something we don’t talk about enough—especially in sports, and more-so in Black and Caribbean communities,” said Boucher. “It’s very important for me and my foundation to make sure the youth learn about managing their mental health from an early age.”
Fresh off being named a Top 5 finalist for the NBA’s Social Justice Champion Award, Boucher continues to build a legacy off the court through the SlimmDuck Foundation, which supports youth from equity-deserving communities in Toronto, Montreal, and beyond through programs in sports, education, and wellness.
The event is part of a growing conversation on how sports can serve as an entry point for healing, connection, and self-awareness — especially for young people navigating life’s pressures.
